Big Turn & Southern Railway Narrows Division in N

See the BT&S and leased Missouri-Kansas-Texas locomotives work this little coal-dependent shortline in northeastern Oklahoma. It’s the 1960s and coal is in decline, so this railroad’s failure to diversify means it will have to close. In the meantime, you’ll enjoy seeing the Big Turn & Southern working the little pike, hauling coal out of the anthracite complex. The BT&S is modeled by Walker Embry. On the movie, he shares a bit about the layout’s design and planning, which includes a creatively-modeled storage yard and extra portability.

Eastern Washington Pacific Railroad in O

Watch modern Union Pacific and BNSF power at work on the freelanced EWP, a shortline in northeastern Washington State that works closely with the Class 1s. You’ll enjoy the story of how the EWP worked out an excursion train deal with the big railroads. The EWP feature includes a brief interview with modeler Mike Bennette and railfanning of the railroad.
