Explore the Washington Northern Shortline in HO
This freelanced shortline is based on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State in the mid-1990s. The modeled town is the fictitious Port Andrews, which modeler Kevin Klettke based on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. You’ll love the scenery on the WN. The railroad works alongside boats at the deepwater port, amidst eye-catching cityscapes and impressive industry, and hauls goods through the verdant, green forests of the peninsula. The feature includes railfanning video and photos of the layout along with its story.
Southern Pacific in Oregon in HO
See the Espee in Stan Schmidt’s freelanced version of its western Oregon network. This urban layout is loaded with craftsman structures. We share images of the layout and an interview with Stan onsite, as well as the layout’s creative history with a focus on the Coos Bay and the port. The SP in Oregon is based from the 1940s-1960s and includes both steam and diesel locomotives. A brief prototype history of the SP is included.
The CORC’s Kettle Valley Division in HO
Explore the Central Okanagan Railway Company’s version of the Kettle Valley Division, including the former Columbia & Western line up to Nelson. The club is based in Peachland, B.C. and models a what-if version that is owned by the CORC. You’ll see the club’s own motive power as well as plenty of Canadian Pacific Railway trains (steam and diesel) as they haul goods through the difficult, mountainous terrain. A short history of the KVR and C&W is included in the feature, along with lots of railfanning as you enjoy the sights.
