CP Rail Builds South into the Flathead Valley in HO

See the CP Rail’s Flathead Valley Branch, a line that could have been if the railway had built through the valley in southeastern British Columbia. You’ll enjoy the creative story of how the line came to be and of the founding of the mythical town of Jerome. A brief interview with modeler Gerry Yurkoski is included on the movie along with lots of railfanning on the quite branch. You’ll enjoy Gerry’s beautifully-crafted scenes and details in Jerome, which sits in the scenic valley just east of the Rocky Mountains. The layout is based in the autumn of 1963. You’ll see CPR coal trains, passenger trains, as well as some general freight and switching operations. A cab ride around the layout is included on the movie.

Canadian Pacific Railway’s Kettle Valley Division in HO

Shortly after the construction of the CPR’s transcontinental route across Canada, mining was booming in the mountains east of Vancouver, British Columbia. We share a brief history of the railroads that battled to connect the mines to the coast. One of them was the Kettle Valley Railway, a subsidiary of the Canadian Pacific. The Kettle Valley Model Railway is a museum layout located inside the S.S. Sicamous in Penticton, B.C. The club models the KVR line after the small railway became the CPR’s Kettle Valley Division. You’ll enjoy the layout’s scenic mountains, the modeled town of Penticton, and the custom model of the Sicamous itself at Okanagan Lake. A cab ride around the layout is also included on the film.
